About 110 people in America are gun-related deaths each day. New York City alone records 870 gun-related deaths every year. Over 10,300 hate crimes per year are committed in America using firearms. Although these numbers may seem alarming, gun violence is common in all American towns. Many cases are due to politicians and the gun lobby fighting for change too long. Common sense solutions to the problem have not been implemented.

Everytown's Community Safety Fund

The Community Safety Fund will double the amount of funding for community gun violence programs in coming years. The community safety fund will provide funding to 100 local organizations that are working to end the epidemic of gun abuse by 2021. In the beginning, the fund will support two types grantmaking: long term support grants that support peer involvement and capacity building; and smaller, sustainer grants. The Everytown Foundation has made the commitment to reduce gun violence in the community to fight the epidemic.

Its 501(c)(3) nonprofit affiliate

Everytown's nonprofit affiliate 501(c),(4) spends money independently. They spend the majority of their money supporting Democratic candidates. The group spent $195 7,769 on Democratic candidates in the latest midterm election. Everytown gave money only to five Republicans. The majority of the funding for Everytown comes from Michael Bloomberg, the former mayor of New York City. Bloomberg has pledged $50 Million to support its anti-gun programs.

Its lobbying spendings

Last year, Everytown spent $386,922 on lobbying for gun control initiatives. From that amount, $195 769 was spent supporting Democratic candidates while $54,247 was given to three Republicans. Majority of the money was used to support candidates for the Democratic Party. Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg provided much of the funding. These expenditures indicate that Everytown is not only supporting gun control policies, but also a broader agenda that targets violence in America.

Its fundraising efforts

Students are at the heart of Everytown's efforts to prevent gun violence. Everytown has partnered with organizations across the country to advocate for gun control. Many of these organizations can be described as ballot initiative boards, which are funded by Bloomberg. Nevadans For Background Checks and Mainers For Responsible Gun Ownership are examples of such groups. Other organizations are the Oregon Democracy Fund, the South Carolina Coalition Against Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault, and the Washington Alliance for Gun Responsibility.

How many Americans depend on hunting?

The United States has more than 300 million hunting dogs. This means there are more hunters than New York City residents.

Hunting is a American pastime which dates back to centuries. But, Americans are hunting less for sport today than ever. According to the U.S. Only 2 percent of Americans hunt regularly, according to Fish & Wildlife Service (FWS). Even lower is the number of young adults who hunt regularly.

Hunting is still popular among older generations, even though it may seem old-fashioned. According to a survey, 68% of baby boomers expect to hunt once again when they are older. Hunting is for them a way to enjoy the outdoors and connect with nature.

For younger generations, however hunting isn’t necessarily a priority. According to National Shooting Sports Foundation, 18% of millennials don't consider themselves to be avid shooters.

That's why FWS is working hard to make sure that America's wild places remain open for everyone to experience.

In 2014, the agency started the "Wild Lands” initiative to raise awareness about the importance of public lands. Its goal is to raise awareness about the importance these areas have and to encourage people to go to them.

Conservation efforts are also encouraged through the Wild Lands Program. FWS and National Rifle Association have partnered to create Project Gunter, a youth shooting sport program. This program teaches children safety with firearms and helps develop skills like marksmanship, safety, and shooting.

Project Gunter is now expanding to include women and minorities. The result is that more children learn how to shoot guns, and are active participants in wildlife conservation.
